2014 Freshet Update - River levels being monitored

Grand Forks Fire/Rescue is monitoring the Kettle and Granby Rivers. Warm weather at the end of last week coupled with rain over the first part of the Victoria Day long weekend have resulted in a rise in the levels on both rivers, although both are still shy of their respective water gauges.

Water flow rates are up significantly over the past 10 days, so everyone is encouraged to stay clear of the river banks and to exercise caution if you need to be near there.

If conditions warrant, information on how to acquire sandbags will be posted here, tweeted ( @GrandForksFire ) and distributed to the media. Remember that sandbags are only effective against surface water -- ground water seepage will not be stopped by sandbagging.

Further information will be posted as conditions change.
